Why Ajyal exists and how it works
Why the school was founded
Families in Madinah who wanted an internationally recognised qualification for their children often had to choose between academic rigour and an Islamic environment. Ajyal was opened in 2024 to remove that choice. We teach the Cambridge, Edexcel, and FBISE syllabuses in full, and Islamic studies and daily prayer are part of the ordinary timetable rather than something added on at the end of the week.
How the school is run
We are deliberately a small school with a short chain of command. Three people are named and accountable: the chairman for governance, the director for operations, and the principal for academic standards. Fee schedules, refund terms, and admission requirements are published on this website in full, and the same policies apply to every family without exception.
What we ask of students
Students are expected to attend consistently, complete work on time, and take examinations seriously. In return, teachers mark work promptly and parents receive honest reports rather than encouraging ones. Our first IGCSE cohort sat their papers in 2025, and sixteen students achieved A* and A grades.
School Life
What the school day is actually like
The school day
Classes run Sunday to Thursday, from 7:00 AM to 2:30 PM. The timetable is built around subject blocks rather than short periods, so students get sustained time on each subject. Prayer is scheduled into the day, not fitted around it.
Joining part way through
A good number of our students arrive from another country or another curriculum, often mid-year. Where a student has gaps because their previous syllabus covered topics in a different order, teachers identify those gaps in the first weeks and set catch-up work rather than leaving the student to keep up on their own.
Talking to teachers
Parents can reach the school office on any school day between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. If your child is struggling in a subject, ask for the subject teacher directly rather than waiting for the next report.

Vision and Mission
What we are working towards
Our aim is narrow and deliberately unglamorous: teach the published syllabus properly, hold students to Islamic standards of honesty and responsibility in how the school actually operates, and give them qualifications that are accepted wherever the family goes next.
After each examination series we look at which subjects underperformed and change teaching allocation or the scheme of work accordingly. That review is the least visible part of running a school and the part that matters most over several years.
